THE DAN QUAYLE LIBRARY:

Worth Fighting For by Dan Quayle (1999). Quayle's new book sets out his campaign platform for 2000. He also attacks his old nemesis -- the "New Aristocracy" of the media -- for being too liberal and weakening traditional values. He also touts a 30% federal income tax cut, a semi-privatization ("Freedom Accounts") of Social Security and school vouchers -- and attacks the IRS, abortion, affirmative action and Clinton's foreign policies. Not suprisingly, the book takes shots at frontrunner George W. Bush ("conservatives have always been compassionate") and takes every opportunity to link Al Gore to Bill Clinton. The Campaign: A Novel by Marilyn Tucker Quayle & Nancy Northcott (1996). Marilyn Quayle and her sister Nancy Northcott wrote this ideological political thriller. In the book, Christian conservative African-American US Senator Robert Grant (R-GA) is a hopeful in the next presidential campaign. The unnamed incumbent Democratic President, fearful of losing his power, sets Grant up to take the blame for a murder he did not commit -- and Grant must clear his name and solve the murder. Unfortunately for Mrs. Quayle, the media critics did not like the book, describing in as "far-fetched ... [with] over-the-top plotting, leaden dialogue" and a heavy dose of partisan conservative politics. Conservatives (from the reviews posted), however, seem to have liked the novel. Of course, Quayle fans can still buy the book simply to have Mrs. Quayle autograph it at a campaign rally. List: $12.99. Your Price: $10.39 (You Save 20%)! Paperback.
