ANALYSIS:
After running a surprisingly strong insurgent campaign against Bush -- and winning primaries in New Hampshire, Michigan, Arizona, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Vermont -- McCain withdrew from the race on March 9, 2000 after losing the "Big 3" Super Tuesday contests in California, New York and Ohio. Despite some calls to do so and favorable poll numbers, McCain also stated that he would not continue his campaign as an Independent or third party candidate -- and he subsequently endorsed Bush in May 2000.

THE JOHN McCAIN LIBRARY:
Faith of My Fathers by John McCain (1999). This autobiography is the story of McCain's rise from childhood and misbehaving Navy "brat" to the US Naval Academy to a Naval aviator in the Vietnam War and forward into the US Senate. Along the way, this third generation Naval officer tells of his experiences as a P.O.W. in North Vietnam and his lessons learned from his family and his personal failures, successes and -- ultimately -- redemption. The Kirkus Review called this book a "candid, moving, and entertaining memoir." Follow the link to read more about the book. List: $25.00. Your Price: $20.00 (You Save 20%).
