Alabama Candidate & Election Guide
Federal and statewide candidates, elections, state political parties, news sites, and other resources — no frills, just what you need — curated by Politics1 publisher Ron Gunzburger.
US Senator Tommy Tuberville (R) is the heavy favorite in the open gubernatorial race, but former US Senator Doug Jones (D) is the strongest possible candidate the Dems could have hoped to field in the contest. Other hot races to watch include the GOP primaries in the open seat races for U.S. Senator, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General. The Republican primaries for the statewide races will largely determine the general election winners because of the state's heavily Republican tilt. The redrawing of congressional districts in May 2026 - back to the original 2023 map - will ensure CD-2 flips back to the Republicans.
